A varied tour that marks the end of Semslinie. This line ends at Ter Apel. This means that the kilometer-long border channel ends here. Before that happens you walk through the Ter Apelse woods past the monastery of the premonstratenzers, a monastic order from the 13th century. After many changes of shape, the monastery has become a museum of religious art. Ter Apel has since become known for its asylum seekers, who camp in the open air for a residence permit. Until now it did not help. In Ter Apel you also pass the Ruiten A canal, which was used for cattle transport and which you can now sail on again. De Ruiten A, on the other hand, is a brook that rises as Runde at Zwartemeer in Bargveen. The river emptied when the extended Hoogeveen canal was created. Zwartemeer, a village where this stage ends, came into being in the dry-out area. Many attempts have been made to keep people working here. After the excavation near Emmercompascum, brick factories came here and later Enka (Akzo) settled here. Now it has all disappeared and the population has to enjoy nature, whereby the meandering Runde is dug into its original bed again and the channels for shipping are opened up again. To the south of Emmercompascum, the paths run parallel to the German border. The waters that you pass here are just like large bathtubs, which are interconnected by divers.
