Incredible views of the Savoie Alps and a rich, diverse ecosystem comprising woodland, open areas, a lake, waterfalls, and wildflowers. Look out for the pine forest section and the breathtaking views towards the Tignes Dam at the Northern end of the Lac du Chevril. Fantastically beautiful. The hike is relatively easy, save for a short steep section after about two thirds of the counter clockwise loop. Park in the parking spaces on Route du Lavachet. Over the road and to the left, pick up the Bois de la Laye trail near the apartment blocks. Follow it as it goes gently down through the pine forest towards Lac du Chevril. It then turns to the north and then west as you pass a series of waterfalls. The route is well signed and the last third or so of this counter-clockwise loop has the only real climbing, starting just after a spectacular waterfall on a large rock outcrop.

6.30.19. Hiking doesn't get much better than this. The hike is relatively easy, save for a short, steep section after about two thirds of the counter clockwise loop which, in my view, makes it a moderately strenuous outing. Here are my stats, hopefully a useful rough guide to what to expect: Distance: 4.7 miles Elevation Gain: 1,086 feet Moving Time: 2:23:27 (it can be done faster — we were a party of 12, and rather slow as a result.)
