This was an incredible hike with outstanding scenery. It is not as crowded as other hikes in the Grand Tetons. but has spectacular scenery. The view of the Tetons and the alpine lakes is stunning. This is a challenging course from an endurance perspective (not from a technical perspective). The elevation change is noteworthy and it was a challenge to move at a quick pace. I would encourage hikers to allow for plenty of time and take rest as needed, especially if you are no yet acclimated to the altitude. The trail splits at approximately 3.1 miles. The left is Garnet Canyon Trail, which we selected. We had spectacular views of Nez Perce and Middle Teton. Even if you plan to go right (Amphitheater Lake), it is work the relatively short (and flat) hike on Garnet Canyon Trail.
