Note: Discover Pass required

*Discover pass needed* *Wheelchair/ stroller accessible* *No dogs (wildlife conservation area)* *Outhouse/ bathroom at the lookout/ end* Great trail! The look is dirt & gravel with steps and wooden walkways. There is a paved trail/ road that goes from the parking lot direct to the lookout. There are two great photo areas at the end that overlook both sides of the small peninsula/ bay. The ending also has multiple picnic tables, which makes a great place to pack and enjoy a lunch or snack. The paved trail is wheelchair and stroller accessible , however some spots may not be ADA slope compliant... but if you have a buddy who is willing to help or push, the end is worth it; especially on a good weather day!

Great little trail with some interesting history. Lots of mushrooms today! Moderate to heavy traffic. Well maintained.

Love love this trail. So quiet and beautiful. You do need a discover pass to park in the lot. This will be a repeat trip for sure.

Beautiful bird watching. This trail is only *partially* stroller friendly, the paved path to the water is good for strollers, but the loop includes portions with staircases and very muddy areas where even a jog stroller could get stuck, during the wet season. At the end of the paved path are concrete statues of canoes where kids can enjoy playing.

I actually really enjoyed this trail. There are enough hills for a challenge, and a flat spots for enjoyable walk, and there is a restroom at the halfway point. Nice scenery and lots of wildlife. The only negatives were I hit stinging nettle on my left leg while on the main trail and there are a few areas that are not well groomed but other than that, great trail.

Wonderful gem. Not crowded, lots of wildlife. During our 1.75 mile walk (out to the point & back; we didn’t do the loop), we saw Harbor Seals, a bunny, a deer, a snake, an eagle and hundreds of cormorants. I will return when I have more time for the loop through old growth forest.

Great little hike for the little one and myself. We saw seals out in the distance. No bugs which is always nice.

Absolutely beautiful place to come first thing in the morning to observe wildlife. Was going to take the side trail until I saw a big snake and said no but oh well, one day!

Very easy and beautiful hike. Great for families with strollers if you stay on the main path and don’t do the extra loop. The views are beautiful and there is a spot to launch kayaks by the trailhead. If you love birds bring some binoculars because there is LOTS here.

Paved trail. Nice views of the bay. Not a whole lot of parking.

Easy trail with a lot of cool things to take in along the way. Pack a light snack or lunch and enjoy a peaceful view of the water and the sounds of birds singing.

I’d give this hike 3.5 stars. The trail was well maintained in some areas and in need of TLC in others. Light traffic today.

Great hike, but if you're looking for something kid friendly, take the paved path out and back!

Has been one of my favorites for awhile. The upgrades are nice but they took out the bench under the tree which is where I would sit and just take it all in. Love the secluded areas and view points. There are harbor seals so bring binoculars! Great kayaking spots too. Family friendly and there are paved sections for all.

A great trail for running, the loop is mostly bare ground, with lots of roots, which will force you to do intervals, if you value your ankles. There are a few sections of wooden platforms that are good for sprinting across. The variety of the turns and roots make this a good trail to run on.

I love this trail! You not only get beautiful views of the water, but you also have a nice hike through the woods. One of Olympia's best trails!

the loop trail is a little boring, but exploring the bay at the end of the road was gorgeous! lots of roots across the trail so wouldn't be good for strollers or running.

Fantastic trail for kids! We brought our 7 kiddos (youngest that was hiking was 3) and they all did great! We’ll be back for sure!!

Great little hike! Clean trails with benches throughout. You can the smell the freshly cut trees while on trail. And there’s cement shaped canoes by the water you can sit in. Very family friendly or for anyone wanting an easy, short hike.

It doesn’t allow dogs; even on leashes, so a non-starter for our family. Disappointing. If I want to walk on pavement, the walk around our neighborhood is more friendly and more of a workout.

The trail is still completely covered in snow. The walk down to the two view points is fairly straight forward although there are many small trees down on the trail. Attempted the loop but had to turn around as there were lots of bigger trees across the trail that were completely unmanageable with a baby in a pack on my back as many of the trees that were down were between knee and waist height- I’m 5ft9!! Definitely coming back when it gets warmer to complete the whole loop!

Love this trail. The loop is very cool with several stairs and bridges the kids love. Lots of mature second growth Red Cedars and Doug Firs, snow berry, and sword fern of course. Brought a snack filled lunch of veggies hummus samlami cheeses etc and ate at the covered picinic tables near the water. Saw 4 Bald Eagles, two adults having lunch out on one of the floating docks lashed to the old pilings (caracass of somesort) plus two juveniles keeping their distance. Also tons of GBH on the railroad peir, a few Harbor Seals hauled out and a pair of Surf Scoters. Our GPS had this hike at 2.43 miles from the parking area, round the loop trail, then back down the road, we didn't walk to the southern viewing area though. Two fallen trees on the loop trail, both easy to get over, even for the 3 & 5 year old. Great day!

Really nice paved trail to an awesome photo spot. Took the Salamander trail back which was packed dirt and beautiful as well. Runs right back to the parking lot. Noway to get lost.
