Steep trail straight up the ridge with some easy scrambling near the summit offering great views of Lake Annette, Silver Peak, and the surrounding area.

Went for snowshoeing yesterday and it is very beautiful! The road is closed because of snow. Don’t follow google map which would add one hour of driving. Just get off i90 at exit 47. Park your car right off the exit and start snowshoeing! There is however avalanche risk, make sure you know what you are doing :)

Amazing trail and view, just not today... haha. Terribly wet conditions, all the way up and down. I always start in the dark, to try and get a sunrise, which isn’t the smartest on an easy trail, so to do it on this one was sketchy. On a clear day though, some micro spikes, and your golden! Take the exit 47 route and go back that same way. Potholes all over the road and icy... BUT it’s better than having to drive through what I did on the way back out... lucky my suv didn’t wash away! Be safe!

Trail was a bit of a scramble near the top it was awesome even though it was super overcast! Make sure you have microspikes.

Great hike today! It was snowy right from the start but no ice. Used microspikes and poles and didn't slip once. I wouldn't do this trail in these conditions without them. It's straight up the entire trail with no switchbacks. Mostly climbing over large rocks/boulders for the final section. Good cardio, incredible 360 views of the surrounding area.

Very snowy currently!! Like others said, keep an eye out for the pink trail marker. Pretty steep once you make the switchback, NOT a great trail for the snow. Sadly we didn’t make it all the way up but I hope to come back!

Great hike. Recommend using the app as that trail would have been difficult to find without it.

beautiful hike! the road up was pretty rough at times and had some big potholes, but we made it up in a subaru outback easily. we started on the trail at about 1 and got down around 5, but definitely took our time. first mile up is pretty flat and wide so no problem. we missed the turn up to the ridge but after about a half mile came to a pretty clear stopping point where we figured it out. the turn is at the curve in the road on the right hand side. keep a lookout for that pink marker! the top gave us beautiful views, but it was basically just boulders so I probably wouldn't bring the dogs next time we go up. coming down gets slick because the dirt is pretty loose, so make sure you're careful! no snow yet :)

Not very well marked or maintained; not a soul on the path either. Roots will be mixed in with the dirt to try and twist your ankle most of the trek up. I did have a sense of something watching me at the top and my dogs constantly turning their heads made me not think I was crazy. Definitely cougar or mountain lion type setting so bring some bear spray. After dodging many potholes on the road, finding the trailhead was the least of my worries. But I missed it because it was not well marked. The trailhead itself can only be found if you look really hard at the disturbed dirt on the right side of the path leading on an incline into the woods. Bring a pole or stick because this is a relentless incline till you get to the top. There you will need some spikes to navigate the icy or snowy rocks(depending on your season). This hike is well worth the effort to get there, not so much on the way up. The view at the top and the last part of the hike run through my mind still today. I will revisit this trail during the summer, maybe get a nice tan on one of the large rocks up top! My phone died so I couldn’t get a proper peak picture but why spoil the surprise.

Great views in the end. I see how people get lost, just gotta look for the pink tape at the turn.

Went on this trail (trailhead 2, not full trail) to find quartz. Once you get to the end of the trail (according to the map) you will see trees with markers. I did not go up because of the steepness. Otherwise the gradual elevation of the trail itself isn't bad.

Short, steep hike is right! Took the second access point instead of the first. Did this in the morning - conditions were nice and cool, but the trail was covered in misty fog through most of the trek. Not much visibility through the valley, but it didn’t take much away from how nice this hike was. Didn’t see anyone else on the trail, if you enjoy solitude :) Would do this again on a clear day. We missed the turn to go up the ridge initially, but you’ll find it if you stick to the map here. It isn’t marked, but there’s enough of a trodden path to start your way up the ridge. Trail conditions were soft, but not muddy. Occasional minor slippage on the way down, but nothing to be concerned about unless there was more rain in the forecast. The trail itself isn’t marked or maintained - no issues right now, but probably more difficult to navigate if there was still snow on the ground.
