It was so crazy to be 750ft below the surface in the beautiful mystery world.

Definitely take the Natural Entrance down. Went on the King’s Palace tour which is well worth the $7 or $8. I volunteered to be the person bringing up the rear of the tour group which was great because I could hang back and have some ‘people free’ time in each room to take some video without anyone in the shots.

Highly recommend seeing this cave. Plan on spending the whole day. King’s room tour was great. Hope to get back in the warmer months to see the bats.

Make sure to take the natural entrance down rather than the elevator for the full cavern experience!

Pretty straightforward. Lots of people typically. Straight down into the early, looking at rocks in the dark. Size of Caverns is impressive

This is the best thing to do and see in the Carlsbad area ❤️

Going down into this Cavern is amazing! Well marked, paved path with hand rails down for 1.25 miles to get to the main Cavern. Single path loop around the big Cavern (1.25 miles) with dim lighting throughout. There are regular restrooms (flushing toilets!), gift shop with drinks and snacks in the main Cavern and an elevator back up to the top. Allow 3 hours to complete because you stop to admire so much!!! Loved it :-)

Great hike! Unreal cave! Did the Kings Room tour then did the self guided walk around big room and a bit more. Highly recommend getting down there!

Awesome hike. Definitely otherworldly especially after many hikes in the sand, sun and heat in Guadalupe Mountains National Park. We took the Natural Entrance trail down to the bottom of the Caverns(750 ft) walked around the 'Big Room' on our own and then took the King's Palace tour. It was absolutely beautiful and we had a great time. Be sure to take a jacket. 56 degrees year round down there!

Beautiful hike on the natural entrance trail into the caverns. The caverns themselves were amazing to see!

This was a nice, mostly paved hike. The temperature inside the cave was approximately 55 degrees. The cave is approximately 700 feet below the service...some areas may be a challenge on your knees, if you have problems with your knees. There are elevators that you can take down and up from the bottom of the cave. Be prepared to wait if you use the elevator. There are several sections that the public is only allowed access to via a ranger guide. You will need to purchase these tickets months in advance. The cost is very reasonable, $6-$10 per guided hike. The “Bat Run” starts at 7pm and around 7:45 pm the bats beginning to exit the cave. I only stayed to watch for approximately 15 minutes. When I left the bat run, bats were still exciting the cave. Great hike. There are other caves in the surrounding area.

Cave is incredible due to the sheer size of it. Visited Saturday before Memorial Day 2019, there were at least 1,000 people there. Tons of infrastructure within the cave which was somewhat disappointing for me. I would go again just try to do it on a slower day.

These are the most spectacular caves I have ever seen. I am happy that I have gotten to experience their magnificence.

If you like caves this is a five star trail. If you aren’t overly impressed by caves in general this is a three. I give it four stars. Worth the trip and ticket cost.

Hiking the caverns 750ft under ground didn’t allow the IPHONE app GPS to get the actual miles and whole 3 mile hike that my husband and I did. We had to drive out of the park to get our stats(mileage) correct. Mine still stopped at .5 miles

Other worldly experience! Almost feels as if you travel back in time millions of years as you witness the massive cave formations that were formed in ancient times. This hike will fill you with awe! The hike is not difficult but I find that hiking an extended steep downgrade uses muscles that regular hikes do not. Expect sore calves and if you are in decent shape challenge yourself with a natural exit hike as well!

Amazing

I entered the cave from the Natural Entrance and WOW! My mouth was slack-jawed the entire journey down. The trail is incredibly smooth so you don't ever need to worry about tripping even though it gets rather dark. The cave floor is rather crowded with people who took the elevator down but the sights were so amazing that I hardly noticed.

Certainly a unique hike that you won't find anywhere else. The descent is long but the trail is quite pleasant - the views along the way will have all your attention. The chambers at the bottom are spectacular. Even with the lights, it is quite dark. If you're planning on taking nice pictures bring a decent flash or a camera with good low-light capabilities. If possible, try to go during the week. The crowds aren't a deal-breaker, but you might have to maneuver around others on the path and wait a while for the elevator back up. Hiking back up gives a nice alternate view.
