You will start behind the visitors center on the Bloody Lane Trail. Take the trail down to the Tower taking in the various memorials. You will then transition to the Three Farms Trail and once you cross Boonsboro Pike, you'll be on the Sherrick Farm Trail which follows Antietam Creek. This is a beautiful hike and the Three Farms and Sherrick Farm Trails are not widely used so you'll be able to walk in the woods in peace.

Walked a section of this trail called the “3-Farms” trail (3.2 mile loop). Parked in small parking area at intersection of Rt. 34 and Rodman Avenue. Well maintained trail and easy to follow signs. Construction prevents access the Antietam Observation Tower at present (Jan 6, 2020)

Wonderful! Trail was mostly flat with a few small hills. If you like history you'll love this trail!

Nice easy walk with a mix of trail types ranging from paved roads, gravel and grass trails. There is creek access and lots of history markers. Did this on an overcast day and glad I did because there are plenty of unshaded areas.

Some of the trail included walking on open road(for cars). Overall, a great trail that covers all the historical sites.

Although it was a little hard to navigate at first, this was a beautiful hike. We could smell the wildflowers and saw all kinds of birds, groundhogs and a fox.

Interesting hike. A variety of trail types ranging from mowed grass paths circumventing cornfields to dirt roads. Is a hike I would do again- so much history! We really enjoyed it. It is long, but not rigorous. We brought our dog Jip along and he did well.

As of August 2016, the Burnside Bridge at the southern end of the trail loop is closed for repairs. The closure began in October 2015. Press reports say that the bridge will reopen in the fall of 2016, but check on the status of the bridge at the visitor center before setting out.

There is beautiful, varied terrain. The trails were well kept, with very scenic views. The only drawback was the neccesary checking of the map at every intersection. Some more trail markings would suffice. But overall it was a great run!

Shady, creek-following short hike. Maintained trail, no major hills. Great loop to burn some energy off the dog!

Good number of paw paw trees line the trail, enjoy them as a nice snack, right off the tree.

A nice walk through one of the few wooded trails at Antietam. Saw deer and lots of different birds. About half the trail is along Antietam creek.

Nice park. I enjoyed the lookout tower and the walk itself. But it is sad to think of the great loss of life and all for nothing.

Biked this trail today. Only took about 30 minutes. That included stopping at a few of the sites and reading. really enjoyed it. That rolling hills made it a bit of a workout. Highly recommend

My wife and I hiked Antietam under clear beautiful skies. We started at the Visitor's center and, working our way North, circled the cornfield counter-clockwise and headed South past the rebuilt Dunker church. Passing the Visitor's center again, we turned East up Richardson's Ave, which turns into Bloody Lane, to the observation tower. Traversing Bloody Lane and knowing it's history absolutely gave me chills. We turned South again at the tower, crossing Boonsboro Pike (rte 63). Linking the Sherrick Farm and Union Advance trail, we had our lunch overlooking Burnside Bridge. Taking the Snavely Ford trail next, we headed North on Rodman Ave back to Boonsboro Pike and retraced our footsteps to the Visitor's center. Worth it for the beautiful scenery of the battlefield and surrounding woods, doubly so for any Civil War buff.
