Exit Wild Wash rd. from the 15, and head west. The road turns into dirt immediately, and you'll see the road you're following in the distance, it's the straight line going to the mountain. There are a bunch of little offshoot roads to get you there, pick one and have some fun. You'll end up going through some sand washes, and rocky desert patches. You'll come to a few spots that are popular for shooting, so if you're into that sort of thing, pull off and have some shots. Be safe! Once you come to the fork stay right, and it will take you past a few old dug out mines, go and explore around, again there are tons of little off shoots and roads to wander around on. You'll eventually reach Citation rd. which is a nicely grated well maintained road that will take you to historic Route 66. Make a left and stop in at Elmer's Bottle Tree Ranch, for one of those classic road side attractions.

nice trail but I've since heard that the area is actually closed to OHV. guess it's private land and people have gotten tickets for staging and riding there to the west of the 15. I didn't have any problem, but I probably won't go back. Stoddard Wells is just across the freeway and there aren't any issues there.

Fun drive, no 4lo needed. It took us a couple of hours, but we took our time, and explored some off shoots. Could have spent another few hours driving some other roads, I'll try and go back out and map some others in the area. Lots of people shooting guns in the area, so try and stay on the roads and make your presence known. Couple of cool old strip mines up there with good views.
