Great hike along the meandering Tuolumne River.

Great trail for a day hike. We went to Tuolumne Falls instead of Glen Aulin. Great day!

Beautiful hike with lots of places along the river and waterfalls to sit and relax. No bugs in October! We parked near the Lembert Dome parking lot, down the dirt road.

Just completed this hike for the second time. Absolutely Perfect weather. Trail had traffic, but all were respectful and eager to chat. I love the combination of hills, flats, granite, Forrest, sand and hard pack. Great end to a Fall week in the Eastern Sierra.

This was a beautiful trip with gorgeous sweeping views of waterfalls, rivers and meadows. There is a really rocky downhill (and uphill on the way back) section the last 2 miles in. Your efforts are rewarded with some pretty spectacular sights! Be prepared to spend a little extra time on this hike because you’ll want to take lots of photos. Sites 16-30 are worth the extra hike up.

We didn’t have enough time to hike the whole trail, but we hiked in 3.5 miles and then hiked it back! So 7 miles total! Great trail, beautiful view!

Completed this trail August 14th. The trail offered stunning views of the calmer sections of the Tuolumne River! There was a lot of maintenance occurring on the trail, but trail workers were very courteous.

Been on a lot of hikes in Yosemite, and this a great one. Slow river, rapids, woods, waterfalls, granite domes, valley scenery. This hike has a little of everything that makes Yosemite amazing. Went on it with my 13 and 12 year olds who are not experienced hikers and they did just fine.

This is a gorgeous hike to several big waterfalls in Yosemite's high country. I think it is a hike that you have to finish if you get close-- all the waterfalls are at the end. You'll definitely need sunscreen and bug repellent. There are some places along the river that would be great for swimming. The toilets at Glen Aulin were open. We drank all of our water (100 ounces/each) with a mile or two to go. Distances are not perfect-- the signs going in suggest it is a 10.8-mile road trip, signs coming out add up to as much as a 12.4-mile road trip, Alltrails clocked it at 12.6 miles, a Yosemite hiking site says it is 13.1 miles and my Garmin watch said 13.8. The Tuolumne Meadows store is just a mile or two down the road from the trailhead and has anything you may need. Make sure to stop at Soda Springs either on the way up or coming out. Great hike!

First 2 miles of the trail are somewhat boring. Most of which are on a fire road. This section is also part of the PCT which is kinda cool, but it’s flat, exposed and near the information center so crowded and again, boring. Second set of 2 miles gets a little better. Trail becomes a 50/50 split of both exposed granite trail and pine shaded dirt trail. Change in elevation here is slight but it’s not completely flat which is nice. Last section of 2 miles is mostly exposed granite and downhill. This section is by far the only reason I give 5 stars. The river is magnificent. You cross a total of 3 bridges to get to Glenn Aulin and the entire time you are walking next to roaring waters. The views are spectacular all the way around. Not at all imaginable in the first leg of the hike. We backpacked to the camp site then day hiked for the next couple of days in and around the area. We arrived the first day Tiago Pass opened, July 1 and packed out on the 4th. This wound up being one of our best experiences in backpacker country yet. Other points of note: - mosquitoes are horrendous. Picardine works ok but this is one trail I’d bust out the Deet for. Leave the natural stuff at home. It won’t work here -bring water shoes. You’ll likely get wet when crossing at least one section of river - very exposed trail most of the time. Layer on the sun screen - the high Sierra camp is closed this summer due to the late snow. It is a perfect time to take over that camp site that would otherwise cost $300 per night, and not pay a dime. Sure you won’t have the meals prepped and cold beer, but backpackers won’t mind this one bit - waterwheel Falls is brilliant. Don’t miss making the extra 7 mile round trip from Glenn Aulin to Waterwheel...it’s worth it.

Great hike...not too much elevation change and the river and falls were roaring due to the late snow melt this year. The trail was excellent, though with the high water, there were two short log crossings over water. Beautiful views!

This trail can get so overcrowded at times. I would give it 5 stars if it weren't so busy. Try Neil Meadow to Neil Lake if you want that Tuolumne type experience. It is located at the top of Pate Valley and Pleasant Valley Junction and follows the PCT to Benson Lake and Rodgers Lake.

the scenery is great but the trail is basically soft sand the entire way and littered with horse shit. the campground area is a nice place to have lunch and spend some time but gets very busy so get there early or late if you plan on staying the night.

Great Long trail! There’s a clear path for the most part. There are laid out rocks when not clear. We were in pursuit of the Tuolumne Waterfall but it’s a simple stream running down creating many mini waterfalls.

Only spent one day backpacking out here but wish we could’ve spent more. Absolutely beautiful trail with delightful surprises with new views as you make your way to camp. Definitely want to do this again with more days because from Glen Aulin, there’s other falls 3-5 miles out that I heard are gorgeous!

I spent 6 days hiking the Yosemite High Sierras and stayed one night in each of the 6 tent camps and the best photo I have of the quintessential Yosemite view was taken from the bridge going over the Tuolomne River just before coming into the Glen Aulin High Sierra camp.

Absolutely stunning. Perfect first backpacking trip with plenty of water along the way.

Got eaten by mosquitoes. Bring bug spray. Footbridge to the campsite is down, had to go upstream to wade through the Creek or walk across a fallen tree (not Tuolumne River but Conness Creek). The creek crossing wasn’t bad, but care must be taken.

Beautiful Northern California hiking. Relatively easy until you hit the switchbacks

Gorgeous hike, though after schlepping our heavy backpacks for 6 miles had a hard time crossing the little river hopping from rock to rock. It was slippery and my daughter got her foot wet right before sunset and her shoes was frozen the next morning. The waterfall there is beautiful, it's a stunning place. Be forewarned that only 3 official fire rings are open for use among over 25 camp sites, so if you grab a fire pit, please invite others to join you as it's getting colder at night.

way better than i expected... moderately flat until the last 2 miles then you switchback down beside some impressive waterfalls... still alot of water as of 8/12/17... this is also the PCT... i saw maybe 150 folks along the way on a Saturday... trailhead parking scared me... i thought there could easily be a thousand with that many cars

Beautiful hike. I did this in July-- beautiful weather and lots of wildflowers out still because of the higher elevation.
