Directions from Downieville: Travel 17 miles east on Hwy. #49 to Bassetts Station, passing through Sierra City. Turn left onto Gold Lake Hwy. at Bassetts Station. Proceed approximately 1.4 miles to the road for Sardine Lake, and turn left. After approximately 0.3 m miles turn right onto Packer Lake Road. Proceed 2.5 miles and turn left onto Forest Road #93 (Packer Saddle Road.) Continue for 1.5 miles to the road junction at the ridge top.From Packer Saddle, travel south on Forest Road #93. After 0.3 miles, road #93 turns right. Continue on road #93 for 0.5 miles to Forest Road #93-3. Turn right onto Forest Road #93-3, towards Butcher Ranch. Within 0.5 miles you will pass the Butcher Ranch trail sign. Continue for approximately 3.5 miles and turn left onto the Gold Valley trail.

Me encanta este sendero !!! Hermoso paisaje, gran 4 ruedas, y tráfico muy ligero! Hay una gran mezcla de paisajes, desde vistas de la montaña hasta praderas alpinas. Hay un montón de buenos lugares para detenerse y disfrutar del aire libre. Mi consejo: comienza desde el norte, en el parque estatal Plumas Eureka. Yo solía empezar desde el sur; hasta el año pasado, cuando llegué a 7/8 del camino y quedé bloqueado por la nieve más profundo, ¡entonces soy alto! ¡Era finales de junio!
