As of August 2019, this route is closed to off-road vehicles but open to hiking. Winter Closure: Forest Service Roads 2N13 and 2N13B are part of the inventory of Annual Winter Road Closures on the Mountaintop Ranger District and are CLOSED annually every winter when there is snow accumulation. Once the roads are closed, they remain closed until spring to mitigate road damage. If you're off-road driving this route, it is rated Easy. If you are hiking or mountain biking up, it is somewhere between Moderate and Hard. There is a small parking area at the top. From this parking area there is a 1/8 mile hike up to the lookout tower.

My star rating is solely based on my dislike of downgrading a trail I've not fully seen. Attempted to make this peak yesterday with my dog. The first few miles were alright. Then I ended up knee deep in snow drifts. When my dog sank through the snow we turned around. Just a heads up, if you plan on making this peak right now, bring your snowshoes and leave your furry friend at home.

I hiked this trail yesterday morning. Got there around 6:45 and got back to my car at around 11 so it was pretty much a two hour hike going up towards the lookout and an hour and half going back. When I first started hiking I saw a few deer mostly on my left side. They were so beautiful but at the same time I was a bit nervous because there might something else along the trail (good thing I didn’t). Yes it is a moderate hike, it’s not too strenuous. Some inclines here and there but not too bad. I sort of stuck when I got to the fork. There were two Road Closed gates. I didn’t know which one to go to since there were no signs indicating the Peak trail. Go to your left to get to the lookout. Not sure where the other trail leads to. You’ll be out in the sun for about 15 min or so before you start to climb on rocks to get to the lookout. It’s a beautiful view from the top, just a bit windy but overall worth the hike. My only main concern about this hike that no one was hiking on this trail... nobody. Went back to my car at around 11 saw no one. So basically I was hiking this trail all by myself. It’s a beautiful hike but the only one that I felt nervous about.

Good hike in the fall but can’t imagine this hike in the summer. Completely exposed with very minimal shade. Amazing views at the top.

Slightly monotonous hike, but fantastic vistas at the top.

The washed out road makes for a super fun mountain bike ride. Moderate technical difficulty but it's quite a climb. the views are amazing much of the way and the tower at the top is well wort the effort.

Definitely more of a moderate hike. Steady but not terrible incline. Couldn’t make the station the steps were too steep for my pup but great views especially 3/4 way in.

Incredible views. From the fire lookout you can see Big Bear, Arrowhead and the high desert. Sweeping vistas and the highway 330 drive. There is no shortcut anymore, road is closed year round due to being washed out in this past spring’s storms. The hike is more like 10 miles round trip. Worth it for that last mile near the peak. The fire lookout was unmanned on a Wednesday but you can still walk around the outdoor area and see for miles

Closed to off-roading but open to hike. Sections of trail got really washed out which is why it is not accessible for vehicles but it’s hikeable. Started at 10:15am. Got up to lookout at 12:30. Great views for miles. It was somewhat hot due to not much shades on the trail/fire road. But a lot of breezes along the way which helps a lot. Very windy at the lookout.

2N13 currently closed at both ends from Green Valley Lake and from Fawnskin due to downed tree across road. Just tried to Jeep it on Sunday. Had to go around via 3N14 from Big Pine through Crab Flats. Long trip but beautiful. 3 hours.

Road closed for driving. Gate locked. Seems late enough into summer to open...

Good hike, but the road is pretty washed out big parts of the trail. We got all the way up on Memorial Day, but there was snow on big parts of the hike. The house of the peak is still closed, don’t know when it opens. Walkable in trainers, but boots is recommended.

Love this trail! It is mainly on a fire road, and the trail definitely needs some work, the road is pretty washed out after a crazy winter. But still perfectly hike-able!

Ran this trail at the recommendation of a friend. The road is pretty torn up from water run-off which makes for a slower run (mini obstacle course!) There were 2 huge downed trees- one you can walk under and the other you need to climb over. I made it all the way up the road to the tower but could not access the tower as the snow was too deep and I didn't have the right shoes (not enough traction). Excellent views from the top.

Hiked on Sunday, 4/28. We got to where we could see the lookout hut. Unfortunately, we couldn't finish the last 1.5-2miles because of snow preventing continuing hiking or road. We did try searching around to the left and right but couldn't see any safe stable (from being wet) way to get around.
