The Turks Cap is a ramp shaped peak, south of Superstition Mountain. It is located on a nice dessert hike heading east on Lost Goldmine trail from the Hieroglyphic Trail head. Scramble up Turks Cap from west to east, to the summit (approx 2800 ft). Route finding is fairly straight forward. Rock cairns are sparse down low but are easier to locate as you gain elevation up the Turks Cap, and the trail becomes more obvious. The only place that requires hands on rock climbing is at the very top, and it is easy. Great views of Superstition Mountain and Gold Canyon. You can return via a mountain bike trail that is a little higher, and north of Lost Goldmine Trail.

1-19-2020 Nice Sunrise Hike, keep your GPS on, easy/moderate hike for the most part till you get closer to the summit. Dog friendly but be aware, lots of cholla towards end of trail, bring comb/tweezers! No fees, bathrooms on site, Enjoy!

Perfect day for a hike. Fantastic weather, no crowds. We had lots of fun climbing on the boulders at the top and taking photos. Returned in a loop, rather than out and back. Things sure are looking green this year.

Did this hike today. I would take the app along to find the last part of the trail as it is hard to find without the app as a guide. Once you start up the summit you are basically navigating the trail using the cairns. As someone else mentioned take along a comb and pliers as there are a lot of cholla on the trail. I kicked one up off the ground and it stuck to my leg. Beautiful view at the top. The last part of the hike up the summit is rocky and steep, but not so bad that you have to use hands.

The hike to the summit is a pleasant well established trail. The entire hike minus the parking lot is very unpopulated. Once you reach Turks Cap it’s a very rocky scramble with a ton of cholla, be sure to bring some pliers. At the foot of the hill there is a wash, this is where you want to start looking for the stacked stones, don’t bother trying to find an established trail you’ll be following the stones all the way up and won’t see much of a walking path. We ended up off the trail a lot coming down gives you a much better point of view to see the stacked stones.

Take extra water and read other reviews of how best to follow the trail. We got off trail a few times and ended up doing 6 miles out and back.

Great hike easy to get lost. Took a wrong turn and did some rock climbing and found the trail. Lots of chollas towards the Turks cap. Had to stop a lot to remove them from my dogs paws.
