We heeded the advice of other reviews and found somewhere else to park besides Paddy’s flats. We parked at Station Flats and walked the Elbow Valley Trail until it intersected with Sulphur Springs Trail. This added about a km to the beginning and end of the hike which totalled 11.7km (according to Strava) but it was nice to have access to a washroom at the start and finish. The trail was clearly marked at the beginning but was not otherwise marked throughout so make sure you know which direction to go when two trails meet. We went counter clockwise and there was a good mix of up, down and flat. It is a beautiful hike with some great views, lots of wild flowers and in general and wonderful walk through the trees. There were a number of mountain bikers so ensure you are paying attention but everyone we met was very friendly and courteous. Some muddy patches (it has rained a ton in the last few days) and we did have to cross a shallow creek at one point but managed to step on one rock in the middle to avoid getting wet feet. The mosquitos almost did us in the first km but once we got out the spray and got further up they weren’t a problem. Would definitely do this hike again and explore some of the other trails we intersected with.
