#1 - The Crabmill Canal and Country Walk

Length: 3.6 mi • Est. 1 h 56 m
A circular pub walk from The Crabmill in Preston Bagot, Warwickshire. The Crabmill makes the perfect spot for refreshments before or after your walk. The walking route joins a stretch of the Stratford-upon-Avon Canal towpath with beautiful old narrow locks, canal boats and wildlife to enjoy. After crossing a small aqueduct, the route leads you through pastures and along tree-lined bridleways to reach a pretty old ford. The final stretch takes in the imposing hilltop Preston Bagot Church. The route includes several steady gradients but there are no steep sections. Whilst many of the paths are firm, some bridleways can be churned, a couple of fields can be boggy and the ford-side path can flood after periods of heavy rain. With this in mind, good boots are a must (or wellies in the winter months). You will need to negotiate several gates and kissing gates plus one stile (this has a gap for small dogs but larger dogs will need to climb over or be lifted). You are likely to encounter sheep in a few of the pastures. There are a few short stretches of road walking along country lanes, but the traffic is normally very light. Allow 1.5 hours. Show more

A circular walk from the small town of Henley-in-Arden in Warwickshire. This delightful walk starts and finishes from the 15th century church of St John the Baptist in Henley-in-Arden. It explores the beautiful surrounding countryside and visits interesting sites including, an old motte and bailey castle, old timber-framed farms, old manor houses and the 12th century church in Preston Bagot. The walk incorporates a section of the Millennium Way, where you will be guided by the distinctive black Millennium Way waymarkers. The walk has several gentle gradients throughout, plus a couple of steeper sections. You will need to negotiate several kissing gates, some bridges plus 23 stiles (some of which are enclosed so dogs will need a lift over). The route crosses fields and woodland and the paths can get muddy at times. You may come across livestock in some of the fields. Allow 3 hours. The Millennium Way is a beautiful 100 mile walk in the heart of England, from Pershore in Worcestershire to Middleton Cheney in Northamptonshire. The route was created by the 41 Club as a community project, with something to offer every walker or rambler across Worcestershire, Warwickshire and Northamptonshire. This is one of 44 circular walks, each of which incorporates a section of the Millennium Way and is published in partnership with 41 Club. Show more

A circular walk from the small town of Henley-in-Arden in Warwickshire. The walk takes us across mostly flat farmland with just a few gentle inclines.
