Takes public footpaths through farmers’ fields. Lots of cows and sheep, so mind your step!

A little disappointed with most of it being out of view of the reservoir and inconsiderate dog owners not cleaning up dog poo.

HikingGreat!

Decent walk. First 5-6k is the best, the second half is less scenic and a bit of a slog, but still a fantastic walk and will be doing it again.

Stunningly beautiful walk. Misses out a lot of the rock formations but it would be easy to add them in. So so pretty with all the purple Heather out on the moors. Very squelchy underfoot so walking boots required. It felt like longer than 3.5 miles as the terrain was pretty wild. Highly recommend.

A great trek which is not hard. The Rocks are a great site but as some report very busy. Push on beyond the shop and you have an interesting trail mostly to yourself. Mud is a feature but when we went, early August, it was not a bog which it can be even though it rained the day before. A beautiful area and views to green fields beyond. Even in 2020 the information point, manned roughly 10:00- 15:00, accept card payments so you would not need coins. Please do not skimp by avoiding the parking fee by using a lay-by aka passing place or the entrance to a field. It’s not right and the road and farm vehicle size mean that you could easily block a road or lose a mirror. Very much worth a visit.

First part is packed with kids/families/people just seeing the rocks. Once you get through that, past the visitors centre, it’s really peaceful. We extended the walk too and did a loop around the monks wall making it 5.5 miles.

parked at the view point and turned right. This starts a walk along the road which is OK but lots of blind corners (most drivers gave us space). just before the next village we turned tight over a small bridge finding the sportsmans pub for a quick refreshment. back on the path around the reservoir and a much improved walk. steady walk with some beautiful views. A pair of buzzards hovered overhead and we think we saw an osprey. altogether a nice walkabout but wasn't too keen on the road walk with children.

Excellent walk. Spend a few hours exploring the rocks, take a picnic, then take the walk. Views as far as the eye can see. Plenty of heather and moorland. Not much wildlife on our walk today still the family really enjoyed. The path is narrow and rugged and runs alongside a overflowing stream and is extremely boggy for .5k Worth it for the walk and views.

We lost our way a few times because the trail wasn’t obvious, but it was still lovely. A good mix of woods & open fields, as well as sheep & cows.

Walking

Lovely easy walk with beautiful views and nature, however, whilst we like a walk in the rain, it was so heavy today that we ended up cutting the route short. We'll have to come back on a clearer day! Worth noting too that all the toilet facilities are shut at the moment.

Lovely easy walk to do with the children. Though very busy for a Sunday (probably because the sun was out) and probably not the best place to go for social distancing! Easy flat terrain with plenty of places to stop and rest.

Great little walk. I parked in a parking layby at waypoint 9 and did the walk in reverse which worked absolutely fine. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area. As it was quiet and out of season for the ground nesting birds I let the dog off the lead for the most part, but would have kept him on for the entire walk had I gone a month later.

Walking

This is a decent walk on reasonably flat terrain. It's a circular around the reservoir, so a nice scenic trail. We did the walk in late October which, with the autumnal colours (see photos), made for a very pleasant couple of hours! Highly recommended.
