The trail is a generally lovely walk, trails are put in place to guide you in the right direction. There are easy parts and more strenuous climbs but the view at the top makes everything worth it. The walk back down is steep if you’re doing the loop, but you can always go back on yourself if you don’t want to face the tiny challenge. The walk took me around 5 hours as we did ponder abit but you can’t resist with all the views! Will definitely be doing again!

Wonderful hike, whatever the weather! You are greeted with the marvel that is the Viaduct right from the start. The steady climb is ideal for beginners, as there are no really challenging or difficult sections. Once halfway up, on a clear day, you can see Pen Y Ghent, Whenside and Ingleborough in one panoramic shot. The views are beautiful. The descent does have a section that's rather steep, but there are plenty of rocks to get your footing right. On our last walk up Whernside, 03.03.19, they were digging up this section, presumably to make it easier. However, this meant that you had to navigate down the steep muddy makeshift track. This was particularly challenging, and we did have a few people on their backsides! The circular route back to Ribblehead was a little confusing compared to the route to Ingleborough for those on the 3 peak course, so I would advise planning before you set off. All in all a great walk for all the whole family to enjoy.

loved hike. Good path. Did on fairly overcast day but path nice and dry

Lovely hike, doesn't take too long to complete. This is the first of the Yorkshire three peaks for me. I hope to do the others soon! We had a lovely clear day and could even see the Lake District from the top! Very steep decent though, would be tricky when wet.

If your looking for a short hike, this is definitely worth doing. (I did it in 3hrs 10 mins) Unfortunately I picked an afternoon when the mist was down, so didn't see much of the view. An easy trail to follow, with a reasonably good footpath

A good circular route with excellent views of the Ribblehead viaduct. The path is extremely well marked and heavily trafficked. The descent is steep and you need to take a hard right turn, after the descent to take the Bridleway back towards the viaduct. The wind was extremely strong on our walk with very little shelter along the ridge. The route can get very busy on weekends as it is part of the 3-peaks challenge.
