Best trails in Brockenhurst, Hampshire

This short stroll through the New Forest National Park takes you along the Tall Trees Trail. Starting at the Blackwater car park, this is an easy and flat trail that passes along a variety of towering trees from all around the world, including the Douglas fir and redwoods. Be on the lookout for the Roe Deer native to this area. The path is mostly flat sprinkled with gravel and a few resting areas. There are no gates. Show more

This walks starts in the village of Brockenhurst - be sure to check out its fab cafés to stock up on snacks and drinks if need be. This walk takes you through the beautiful countryside and forests of the New Forst and its highlight is certainly the majestic redwoods and firs that were planted in the late 1850s to create the Rhinefield Ornamental Drive for the nearby Rhinefield House. If you fancy a stop to check out the Rhinefield Arboretum be sure to check out the waymark which indicates where to stop. The Arboretum has a magnificent range of tree species from around the world, so it's really worth a visit. A lot of this route is on gravel paths so it's great for walkers and bikers alike. A walk along the river stretching along the coastal Solent Way between the two charming villages of Beaulieu to Bucklers Hard. Heading down the river, you will be offered the choice between a woodland or riverside track - you can also do one and then the other on your return. The New Forest National Park houses many beautiful walks, including this circular walk around the Wilverley Inclosure. The path is mostly flat and on man-made paths - be wary that the more natural paths tend to be muddy at times (however, by-passes can usually be found). There are a few wide gates, but there are no kissing gates or stiles on route. The wide open areas will give you a chance to see cattle, deer, and ponies.
