Very hot day tempered by the fresh coastal breeze. Part of the walk had been re-routed which cut a big corner off the route. If only I had recorded the route as I walked it then I could show exactly where it was... Next time... Easy walk, some lovely sea and country views, and also a little bit of coveting of the lush properties along the route. Dog friendly beach judging by the amount of canines that were evident on and off lead. Some of the walk is literally on the beach so not great for buggies or bikes. I will take photos next time.

Beautiful walk, great for dogs though keep under close control. The two stiles were easily negotiated and all livestock were enclosed. Free car park and lovely cup of tea at the end of the walk at the sailing club bistro.

Pleasant walk can be easily shortened by taking a cut across near the church.

Easy to navigate with plenty of good views along the way! Slightly overgrown in places, with nettles and plant shards becoming a nuisance if you’re wearing shorts! Well worth a look though!!

This walk is easy and takes in lovely views of Alresford creek, across to Wivenhoe, Brightlingsea beach and Mersea Island in the distance. Bird watchers may see skylarks, corn bunting, yellowhammers, marsh harriers and more plus the farm has information signs about the wildlife along the route. Dogs can be off lead for part of it following paths then must be on where sheep may be but again signs indicate this. A short spell through trees are full of bluebells at the right time and there’s a view across a quarry lake. You do pass a quarry and a water treatment area which is a bit smelly but it’s brief and the walk is worth it for the views and wildlife.

A lovely walk with beautiful views and the directions were easy to follow.. We walked in early summer and there were lots of nettles in places which we had to clear at times before we could pass. There were plenty of cows in two fields. We were with our dog and the cows did rapidly approach in one, slowly in the other - so if with your dog in particular make sure you know how to be around cows else it might feel a bit hairy! Overall it was an enjoyable walk through the Stour valley with various pretty hill and field views throughout.

Nice casual loop, seems to be a few different paths so if you don't follow the instructions or know the area you may get lost.

Excellent walk over different terrains and many types of landscapes. Path was overgrown and muddy in places but easily passable. Stunning field of poppies just past the quarry was amazing.

Great walk but map not accurate around the half way mark. path leads across private land

Nice walk in varying Essex countryside, yes it's not all built over! The muddy and deeply rutted track mentioned in the 'Tarmac Lane to Footpath' section appears to have been dealt with as at the time of taking this walk, May 2019, the track was very flat and well kept. In fact, some of the earlier tracks are more muddy and rutted although not so bad that you cannot pick a way through.

There are some ploughed fields to avoid but alternately bridleways have been developed which improve the route

Really enjoyed this walk. Lovely autumnal afternoon. Stopped in at the church and met the bell ringer captain who let us have a go at ringing the church bell. Great mix of terrain and splendid views.

Pleasant walk, though it goes through a couple of farm yards. When you're at the start there's a park. The right turn is before the park, that led us astray for a little while!

A nice walk, pretty level ground, was muddy in a few places. Most of the walk is on paved road, with a couple of detours into fields. Interesting when planes drive across the road by the air ambulance.
