Dog friendly. Off the lead for most of the time. LOVELY views. Second time that I’ve done it. Sunny or muddy, it’s great fun!!

Good walk on the first sunny day in January after weeks of rain. Easy to get the train to Southease. Lots of up and down but easy to follow and nice pubs in Lewes at the end

Sadly this trail is now unusable. The rail crossing as marked is closed and there is no safe alternative route to rejoin the trail until you reach Beddingham. We continued along the river and across the railway at Southease. Sadly having walked along the verge of the A26 we learned we could not rejoin the trail by the railway as the area is now a composting plant and closed to the public. We had to continue along the A26 verge (dangerous and ill advised) until we reached the pavement at Beddingham. In Beddingham the trail also went cold, driving us back onto the A27 until we rejoined the trail heading up Station Road into Glynde. With time and daylight against us we cut straight across from Mount Caburn to Lewes Golf Club and back down to the car. Muddy, as expected for this time of year, the trails we found were in great condition. Some of the styles need attention. Kissing gates were all in great condition and the pavements, where we found them were in good condition also. Shame about the rail crossing/trail closure. It wasn't so enjoyable as we spent 2-3 miles on the verge of the A26 and probably 40% of our time on a roadway.

Great all rounder with a section of South downs with great views

This is a great walk if you like a bit of solitude as it seems like not many people uses the majority of this trail. Great views from the top of the Downs and fun crossings of vast corn fields.

Great walk. There is in Lewis Snowdrop pub where you can park a car for 1.5£ a day and start walk from there and take nice pint in the end:) i would recomend anticlocwise route becouse you have better views.

We have now navigated this walk twice. First time made a couple of wrong turnings but second time surprised ourselves with how smooth the walk was. If you like wild water swimming, bring your swimming costume. Pip the dog loved it both times.

Nice leisurely walk with good views at the top.

Beautiful walk despite the rain ! got a few steep inclines ,various terrains but some great views on top of the South Downs .

Lovely walk in the Sussex countryside. Beautiful views of the South Downs as well as following the River Ouse through fields and villages. I would recommend this dog friendly walk. There is free parking next to the Village shop in Barcombe Cross. The directions are clear and accurate. Really enjoyed this walk.

Great hike, amazing views!! I followed the directions from the Saturday Walking club website, though there are signposts around. Went anti clockwise and had lunch at the Abergavenny pub in Southease, great day out!

Lovely hike, really well sign-posted and with an opportunity for a break at the YHA cafe at Southease. Some really beautiful views of the Downs and the sea.

I would definitely recommend!! Easy to follow, great fun and brilliant if you’re training for longer walks.

Nice walk a lot of crop fields and a lot of stiles but we were well informed. The bit by Barcombe Mills was very pretty.

Some of the fields did not have livestock so we could let our well behaved lab off the lead. He’s a big boy and managed to get through all the stiles without being lifted!

Awesome place for a hilly workout! Nice views.

Stunning views and easy to follow. We just went wrong near the end on the (very steep) ascent. The fork wasn't as obvious as we had hoped. A lovely walk
