Great Trail. We took the 555 open top bus from Bowness to Grassmere then walked along the south shores of Grassmere and Rydal water. Upon reaching Rydal we turned right to follow the river Rothay all the way back to Ambleside and then the boat back to Bowness..£12.90 each for combined boat and bus ticket -a great day out will definitely do again
