HikingGreat!Over grown

YES: - directions takes you straight to free car park - dog friendly walk, plenty of shadow and access to Dee river - "loop type" track with decent length and many food/drink places to enjoy right by the Dee in Chester (pubs/restaurants/ice cream parlours) NO: - section which takes you back on main rads (under Grosvenor Bridge in Chester) is bit overgrown POSSIBLE RETURN: - yes, but instead of going under the Grosenor Bridge go across river and (blue bridge) and then on Grosvenor Bridge.

HikingMuddyOver grown

YES: - easy to find a parking space (main road or Greyhound Inn) - dog friendly walk (apart from open fields with grazing cows) - first/last farest section (towards Shotwick castle) is really nice with open field, where castle used to be NO: - part of track (as you taking right turn - Lodge Lane - and then left towards dairy farm and further towards forest) is really muddy with forest section well overgrown - 60% of track takes you through grazing fields full of cow muck) POSSIBLE RETURN: - don't think so, but if you really want to do it I'll recommend take a left turn at Lodge lane and then left again (back on path towards Shotwick castle)

Lovely walk along the river and through parkland. We slightly changed this walk by crossing over the bridge to Chester and sitting on the benches while having a coffee etc, then crossing back over at the next bridge to continue the walk!

Excellent walk which has lovely river pathway, beautiful views across the river when you get into Chester. Chance to have fish and chips and a beer at the Boat House, and a really nice return through the park.

Short walk along the city walls of Chester with good info at the gates re the history. A good deal of work is being carried out on the city walls and therefore a number of diversions in place. Nonetheless if you have 40mins to kill, well worth it.

Walking

This is an update of the current situation of a walk around the walls. walls leading to Eastgate Bridge, Northgate Bridge and Southgate Bridge are both under construction at present (updated 5/6/20 - see images), hence my diversion. A lovely walk around the 2 mile circuit around part of the walls of Chester with lots to see and do. Please note: There are only small sections of the walls that do have ramps for people with disability.

HikingMuddyOver grownPrivate property

Would not recommend this! Start of walk is a no access private property. And the woodland is completely overgrown, if you decide you still want to do it take a Bush knife with you
