Thuringia Cycle Route Stage 4: Weimar - Jena

4th partial stage of the long-distance cycle route through Thuringia from Eisenach to Altenburg The term "Thuringian chain of cities" refers to an imaginary line 130 kilometers long, along which the six largest cities in the state of Thuringia line up in an easterly direction. The long-distance cycle route mainly leads through flat terrain and mostly on paved dirt roads and side roads. The route marking includes the designation "Thüringer Städtekette" with the central pictogram of a cyclist. This stage is peppered with interesting sights that invite to think about the culture and history of the region. In Weimar alone, it's worth taking a long walk before setting off. It then goes through the Ilmpark with a Roman house and small, friendly villages along the Ilm. Since the route runs close to the railway line, individual stages can always be taken by train. Cafés and restaurants are lined up along the route, so that breaks can be taken in many places.
