This is the second stage of the certified SaaleHorizontale quality trail, a wonderful hike through the Saale valley, starting and finishing in Jena.
The second stage of the long-distance hiking trail starts in Ziegenhain and ends in Beutnitz. This section also involves a lot of uphill and downhill walking - sturdy shoes and a certain level of fitness are highly recommended. Great views, for example from the Königsstuhl, and cultural and historical attractions such as the impressive ruins of Kunitzburg Castle make for an unforgettable experience.
