The XTREMarathon is the extreme hike of the RENNSThike Hiking World Championship. At 169.3 km, it corresponds to the officially measured length of the Rennsteig and therefore comprises exactly four marathons.
These have to be completed non-stop within 48 hours at 3500 metres altitude from Blankenstein to Eisenach and end in Gumpelstadt with the Pummpälzsteg. The SUPERMarathon from Oberhof non-stop in 24 hours and the HIKE marathon with a marathon length start at a later date on the same route. Hiking, hiking, walking as Nordic, power etc. with walking speeds of no more than 8 km/h are mandatory. Running and jogging are not permitted.
