Exciting hiking trail in the green heart of Germany, Thuringia.
This hike leads through the Jonathal valley between Arnstadt and Crawinkel. This narrow valley is characterised by rugged shell limestone slopes and karst caves. In addition to the unique flora and fauna, the area is historically famous because a so-called "Führer headquarters" was built here from November 1944 to April 1945 and many prisoners of forced labour lost their lives.
This circular hiking trail begins at Böhlersmännchenplatz and leads along the remains of the tunnels. Entering the tunnels is life-threatening and therefore not permitted. However, information boards provide information on the relevant relics. The memorial also commemorates the many people who died at that time.
