This is the track of a hike to the three sources of the Spree. Start of the hike Löbau railway station. Destination of the hike Neugersdorf railway station. The oldest, historically documented source of the Spree is the Spreeborn in Ebersbach. This was confirmed in 1887 by Field Marshal von Moltke on the basis of old military maps. Due to construction work, the water in the Spreeborn was lost. The Spree springs at Kottmar and in Neugersdorf were only named later. Of the Spree springs, the Spree spring at Kottmar is the highest. The Spree spring at the Neugersdorf public swimming pool was originally located on the Neugersdorf parish meadows. When the public swimming pool was built, the Spree spring was relocated and the spring water was supplied via a pipeline. The Höllengrund, Höllengrund viaduct and numerous views with distant vistas in fine weather are also worth seeing on the hike.
