Kammweg Erzgebirge-Vogtland Stage 12: Weitersglashütte - Mühlleithen

This route follows stage 12 of the certified "Kammweg Erzgebirge-Vogtland" premium trail, connecting Weitersglashütte with Mühlleithen on a densely forested section that bridges the Ore Mountains and the Vogtland region. Right at the start, worthwhile detours beckon, such as a side trip to the Carlsfeld Drinking Water Dam—the second highest reservoir in Germany—or a stroll down into town to visit the Trinitatiskirche, a architectural gem that served as a blueprint for Dresden's famous Frauenkirche. back on the main trail, the path winds through the "Drei Bächle" nature reserve, home to Saxony's oldest spruce trees. After a walk through a fairytale-like forest, a final ascent leads up to the winter sports village of Mühlleithen, offering sweeping views over the Vogtland countryside. Hiker-friendly accommodations and cozy country inns are available in Carlsfeld, near Morgenröthe-Rautenkranz (home to the German Space Travel Exhibition), and directly at the stage destination in Mühlleithen; wild camping is prohibited.
