Dresden: Linkselbische Tälertour

Interesting, extensive hiking route in Dresden, Saxony. The route takes you to Dresden, the German "Florence on the Elbe", which has a lot to offer visitors with its palaces, castles, lakes, vineyards and diverse nature. The tour starts at the Dresden-Cossebaude railway station. The route heads towards the Oberwartha reservoir and the village of the same name. Then northwards to Meißener Straße to hike through three sections of this long route, which allows the eye to discover so much that surprises and amazes: you walk along the Meissen orchard, through the beautiful areas of Niederwartha and Oberwartha, to Scharfenberg Castle, which can be reached from the Elbe cycle path and is located below the village of the same name. You cycle around the Seußlitz and Gauernitz grounds and discover the tiny Gauernitz Elbe island directly on the river. You will also see an old manor near Pegenau and walk along the beautiful Cossebaude reservoir. Later you pass through the Wolfsschlucht gorge, past the castles of Batzdorf, Gauernitz and Weistropp. The circular route ends with a visit to Weisses Schloss and the nearby Herrenkuppe mountain, where the Bismarck tower, which is well worth seeing, offers a magnificent view of the vineyards. Accessible by bus and train. There are refreshment stops along the route.
