The Schaumberg circuit, also known as the Schaumberg cycle path, leads once around the eponymous mountain, one of the highest elevations in Saarland. The beautiful cycle tour starts at the market square in Thorey and runs along the Roman road to Marpingen, then continues along the sculpture road and through the idyllic Blies valley. On the way back, it is worth making a detour to the Schaumberg tower, from where you have a magnificent view over the whole of Saarland, the Vosges mountains and the Palatinate Forest.
Due to the many ascents and descents, this route is classed as challenging and requires a good level of fitness. There are refreshment stops along the way.
