Idesbachpfad

This challenging hike takes you through the idyllic Idesbach valley and the neighbouring hills. After the first ascent, you have a view of the Saar valley. This is followed by the Trippsborn, a mighty sandstone formation. Along the edge of the slope below the Oberlimberg, weathered sandstone boundary stones indicate a former border line. The most adventurous part of the entire trail begins at the bottom of the valley. Various side valleys are connected by wooden steps. The crossing ends at the so-called "Pastorengrät". The "Raufels", a limestone staircase, is the next destination before a long descent through the "Forest of Giants". Beech trees more than 40 metres high, some of which are over 180 years old, stretch upwards. A little later, the path leads past the ramparts of the Königberg.
