Popular premium hiking trail Traumpfad Schwalberstieg On this beautiful route, quiet forest sections alternate with panoramic passages over the Moselle plateau. Jungle-like paths lead through stream valleys to expansive views of Hitzlay. Very close to the Linkemühle mill, the trail leads slightly uphill through the tranquil Aspel stream valley. Here the route lies in the midst of pristine nature: babbling brooks, crooked trees and rugged rock cliffs encourage you to relax. A narrow path leads on to the Schwalberhof farm. As you continue, you have a great view as far as the volcanic cones of the Vordereifel, before the route dips into the wonderfully quiet Schwalberbach valley. No sooner has this been crossed than the trail leads through extensive fields to the Arkenwälderhof farm and finally plunges back into the majestic high beech forest. The next adventure is the crossing of the Aspeler Bach stream through a ford. As soon as you have climbed the embankment, the route enters the idyllic Niederfeller forest. Leaving this behind, you have a fantastic view over the Moselle plateau. Past the beautiful Röder Chapel, the trail continues to Hitzlay. From this exposed vantage point, the Moselle valley lies at the hiker's feet like an enchanted model landscape. Along lush hedgerows and through meadow orchards, the trail slowly heads towards the Moselle valley. Great views and impressive rocky cliffs accompany the path to the lookout tower of the "Mönch-Felix-Hütte", which offers a fabulous view of the Moselle, before you reach your destination again via the nightingale path.
