Loreley-Extratour

This circular trail is a certified premium hiking trail. The route begins behind the Loreley Visitor Centre at the summer toboggan run. There is a paid car park here. From there, the route leads to the Rhine Terrace with a fantastic view of the Rhine Valley and Rheinfels Castle on the opposite bank of the Rhine. The Loreley Extratour accompanies the Rhine on its way northwards as you walk along the towpath, which eventually leads steeply uphill towards Patersberg. This section offers ever more beautiful views of the Rhine and Katz Castle. After Patersberg, you descend into the valley through Forstbachtal. Picturesque paths create fabulous plays of light at almost every position of the sun. The Bornsmühle mill, a listed building, is situated in an idyllic location in the Forstbach valley. The path then leads uphill again to another plateau near Bornich with a marvellous far-reaching view over the Rhine, including the Taunus and Hunsrück.
