A beautiful tour past several former volcanoes - most of which have been or are still being dismantled. From the southern outskirts of Hillesheim (on the Lier) on the old Roman road over the Kyller Höhe to the Goßberg. Along the edge of the forest to Walsdorf and further into the Arensberg - a volcano hollowed out by mining. From the Arensberg, head north-west (view of Kerpen Castle) and via the Schwalbenhof to Berndorf. There up to the fortified church. Past the Mahlberg to the Schwedenschanze above Hillesheim and finally back to the town. Starting point of the tour: cattle market in Hillesheim (car park)
