Stage 3 of the long-distance hiking trail "Felsenland Sagenweg", Rhineland-Palatinate.
Stage three of the certified premium hiking trail "Felsenland Sagenweg", which leads from Dahn to Bärenbach through the Palatinate Forest, starts in Bundenthal and ends in Schönau (Palatinate).
The hike is considered challenging due to the metres in altitude to be overcome. For example, the route climbs very steeply up to the Mäuerle and the highest castle ruins in the Palatinate Forest. You will come across many ruins and castles on this stage, including the ruins of Fleckenstein Castle, which, according to legend, was built by none other than the devil.
Schönau offers overnight accommodation and refreshment stops. Sturdy footwear is recommended.
