This is the first stage of the Ausonius Trail, which follows in the footsteps of the Roman poet Ausonius from Bingen to Trier through the Hunsrück.
The first half of the almost 22-kilometre hike from Klopp Castle in Bingen am Rhein to Rheinböllen is almost constantly uphill. The Bingen forest and the Nahe valley, which is characterised by vineyards, are particularly beautiful.
