Von Linnich zum Barmener Baggersee

Very nice hiking trip in North Rhine-Westphalia. The route takes you to the Kellenberger Kamp area to discover the good old Rur. The start is next to the Linnich SIG Combiloc. The trail crosses the Rur right at the beginning and then runs southwards along its banks; later, it winds its way around the river. Here you will discover the idyllic nature reserves of Kellenberger Kamp, Prinzwingert and the particularly impressive Rurmäander area between Floßdorf and Broich. You can take in the protected biotopes, marvel at so much beauty and simply enjoy nature in all its diversity and uniqueness. For example, you can marvel at the avenue of pollarded willows at Lake Barmen. Kellenberg Castle is a moated castle on the northern edge of the village of Barmen - unfortunately it is permanently closed. However, it is a real eye-catcher! After walking around the Barmen quarry pond, which also has a bathing beach for those interested, the return route leads in a north-westerly direction back to the starting point.
