3rd stage of the Töddenweg, North Rhine-Westphalia.
From Tödden, the route first leads to Hopsten, the gateway to Westphalia. Many travelling merchants lived here in the 18th century. Some of the houses have even been preserved. They can be recognised by their gables.
This stage is another scenic experience, passing through the Buchholzer Wald forest with the Buchholzer Stollen. Later, the Mittelland Canal accompanies the route to the Heiliges Meer nature reserve. The nature reserve is home to the oldest natural lake in Westphalia, the Erdfallsee. Via Hopsten, the route follows the old trade route through meadows and fields to the small village of Dreierwalde.
