The fifth stage of the Sauerland-Höhenflug starts in Wenholthausen; it goes up the Gesenberg. After the ascent, you have a magnificent view of the village and the surrounding area. The route continues up and down, through beech and spruce forests, past rest areas and wonderful views until you reach the "Altes Forsthaus" forest restaurant with a game reserve, a home brewery and an adventure playground for children. The destination is beautiful Bad Fredeburg, where you can round off the day in one of the restaurants.
Please note: Due to construction work, a large area above Bad Fredeburg is closed for a longer period of time. The route is no longer accessible from the "Alter Forsthaus", but a diversion has been set up.
