Bike tour Würselen – Jülich – Indeland

This extensive cycle route combines the historic industrial landscape of Würselen with the fortified town of Jülich and the futuristic backdrop of the Indeland. The route follows the transformation from the old mining areas of the Wurm Valley to today's huge open-cast mines. A particular highlight is the Indemann, a 36-metre-high steel observation tower in the shape of a robot, which offers sweeping views over the active Inden open-cast mine and as far as the Eifel. Cyclists also pass through the historic centre of Jülich, which is known for its Napoleonic bridgehead and citadel - one of the best-preserved Renaissance fortresses in Europe. The route is characterised by wide panoramas over the fertile Jülich Börde and leads along well-maintained, flat cycle paths. Due to its overall length, this tour is a test of endurance and shows a region that is characterised by its impressive man-made landscapes.
