The entire route is characterised by historical sites. It crosses the old Volme bridge, past the Ambrock hillfort and the site of the former "Sieben Gräben" hillfort. The Gersteinweg ends at the medieval Hohenlimburg Castle, the former ancestral seat of the County of Limburg.
