• Trails closed due to fire in the Hautes Fagnes : From 14 August 2026, several trails in the Hautes Fagnes will be temporarily closed due to a major fire. The closures affect, in particular, the Signal de Botrange, Mont Rigi and Baraque Michel areas. This legendary royal route is the longest and most challenging of the Guelph cycle tours and leads over 152 kilometres with 1,250 metres of cumulative ascent through the countryside of Lower Saxony. The route runs mainly on tarmac roads and paths south of Hanover and challenges even very enduring athletes. Although the route is not technical, its immense length requires extreme self-catering and planning over several days. The name Guelph refers to the historic noble family of the Guelphs, a powerful dynasty that originated in this region and later provided the rulers of Great Britain.
