Buntsandsteinroute

A tour that can be divided into 3 parts. Here is a suggestion: Tour 1 The red sandstone route starts at Kreuzau railway station, leaves the town centre and leads across the Rura floodplain to Üdingen. There, the path gradually climbs so that you can enjoy the impressive panorama of the Obermaubach reservoir on the Mausauel. Via the Eugenienstein and above the Rather Felsen, the route finally reaches Nideggen on winding natural paths through the Hindenburgtor and the Christinenley rock formation and more than lives up to its name. Tour 2: From the market square in Nideggen, Tour 2 leads along the Buntsandstein route and the Eifelsteig partner trail, first below the castle, then along the Effelsfelsen and in the evening through the Kühlenbusch. Between the evenings and the houses, the edge of the Eifel National Park is touched for the first time and on the last 5 kilometres to Heimbach, only the Hausen Busch gets in the way of the hikers. However, this is quickly climbed and the smallest town in North Rhine-Westphalia beckons with its gastronomic offerings. Tour 3: From the market square in Nideggen, Tour 2 leads via the Buntsandstein route and the partner trail along the Eifelsteig, first below the castle, then along the Effelsfelsen rock and after the evening through the Kühlenbusch.
