Demanding marathon cycle route around Rügen, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
This is the route of the Rügen Rund cycle marathon. This route leads almost completely around the popular Baltic Sea island, starting and finishing in Binz. From there, the route first heads north via Sassnitz, through the Jasmund National Park and on via Glowe, Altenkirchen, Puttgarten and Dranske. The route almost always follows the coastline with wonderful views of the Baltic Sea.
The route then heads south again along the Wieker Bodden, Schaproder Bodden and Kubitzer Bodden through Trent, Dreschvitz and Poseritz. And finally you cycle back to the starting point via Putbus and Bergen.
It is possible that some parts of this route have been specially closed for the marathon and are now back to normal road traffic.
Apart from a few steep climbs in the Jasmund National Park, the route is technically easy to cycle, but can be categorised as challenging due to its length.
