This circular route is one of the most popular in Northern Germany. Predominantly on gravel paths, the trail goes counterclockwise around the third largest inland body of water in Lower Saxony - the Zwischenahner Meer. This natural attraction was created around 12,000 years ago by the collapse of an underlying salt dome. The hollow eventually filled with groundwater.
There are various things to do around the lake during the hike. Four different traditional restaurants invite you to stop by. The many boats can be observed on the water.
The hiking trail can also be halved with the “Weisse Flotte” passenger ship. It is possible to return to the hike's starting point halfway from Dreibergen and Bad Zwischenahn.
