The circular trail Ni2 starts at the car park near Nienover Castle. You walk around the castle hill to the Carolinenteich pond and from there into the Hutewald forest and the Reiherbach valley. Exmoor ponies and aurochs graze the areas in a gentle manner and several information boards provide interesting facts about this ancient form of forest management. Dogs are prohibited in the Hutewald, particularly to avoid potentially unpleasant encounters between aurochs and dogs. When leaving the Hutewald, please be sure to lock the gate again.
