Cycle Tour from Hofbieber via Adolphseck Castle, Fulda Valley, and Vorderrhoen

Scenic cycle tour in the Hessian Rhön Nature Park, Hesse. This cycle tour is just under 53 km long and runs mainly on tarmac paths and gravel roads. You should be in average physical condition. The tour is also suitable for e-bikes. The route starts in Hofbieber, from where you cycle along the Milseburgradweg towards Langenbieber. In Melzdorf, you switch to a tarmac field path and cycle up a slight hill to Horwieden. Here you have a wonderful view of Milseburg, Wasserkuppe and many other of the highest mountains in the Rhön. After crossing the main road, the route continues towards Rex and from there to Böckels. Here you have to cycle a section of main road (medium traffic volume) before turning off onto quiet country lanes again in Wissels. The route then continues along beautiful paths and through a motorway subway to Adolphseck-Fasanerie Castle. As well as the castle grounds, which are well worth a visit, there is also an opportunity to stop for refreshments. From the castle, you cycle along an avenue - the official access road to Adolphseck-Fasanerie Castle - in the direction of Bronnzell. There you reach the Fulda valley and follow the Fulda cycle path or Hessian long-distance cycle path R1 towards the Rhön. In Lütter, it's time to say goodbye to the Fulda valley; the route initially follows main roads through the town until you turn left uphill. Here, on the ascent, it is worth stopping at the Mariengrotte grotto, which is well worth seeing. The terrain has now become noticeably hillier and on the way back to Hofbieber you pass the first small foothills of the Rhön. Paved side roads lead to Dietershausen and from there the route heads towards Friesenhausen. You pass the grounds of a holiday village, where you have to push your bike about 100 metres past a barrier. A short time later you reach a small lake with a beer garden and restaurant (Kneshecke), where you can really enjoy yourself. From Friesenhausen, the tour continues along country lanes and side roads, past the Hotel Fohlenweide in the direction of the Milseburgradweg. Parallel to the cycle path, a tarmac path leads to the Bieberstein swimming pool (with Bieberstein Castle in the background). After Langenbieber, the bike practically rolls by itself. Here you can take another break in the beer garden of the Kollmann inn before tackling the remaining stretch back to Hofbieber.
