From the Ulmbach Dam, you hike to the Holzbach Gorge, which was named Geotope of the Year by the Westerwald-Lahn-Taunus National Geopark in 2016. Several pretty little towns such as Westerburg and Rennerod lie along the 74-kilometre route. Cycling is not permitted in the nature reserve around the Holzbach Gorge. You can explore the nature reserve on foot and then cycle around it on country roads.
