The European long-distance trail from the Baltic Sea via the Wachau to the Adriatic runs through the Bavarian Forest parallel to the German-Czech border over the ridge of the border mountains.
From Waldmünchen, the hike leads over a wooded ridge to Furth im Wald. From there it goes to the Hohenbogen, whose western summit, the Burgstall, is climbed. From the service hut on the Hoher Bogen, the route then leads through the valley of the Weißer Regen to the long ridge of the Kaitersberg. Via Eck, the ridge trail leads over numerous peaks to the Kleiner and Großer Arber. From the Arber, the E6 leads down to Bayerisch Eisenstein and reaches the Bavarian Forest National Park. It crosses all the mountains in the national park, from Falkenstein to Rachel and Lusen.
