Stadt, Land, Kunst | Die Bremen-Worpswede-Runde

The cycle route is green and mostly car-free. The sky is high, the light unique. The route is often accompanied by canals, ditches and the banks of the Wümme, Hamme, Beek and Wörpe rivers. The flat meadow landscape with its dykes and terps, dams, bridges and expanses of water is extensively protected. Where peat barge skippers used to take a break on the long and arduous trip from Teufelsmoor to Bremen, there are now pubs inviting you to take a break. Highlights of the tour are the wide expanses of meadows and water in the Hammen lowlands, which are under national protection, and the artists' village of Worpswede. For more than a century, the village on the Weyerberg has been a centre of attraction, a place to work and live and a stage for artists. More than 100 years of art and culture can be found in museums, exhibition centres, galleries and buildings designed by artists, combined with village life, coffee and cake and guests.
