From Köthen with its lake of the same name, the route follows the Dahme bypass canal to Leibsch and continues along the edge of the forest to Groß Wasserburg. The last section leads from there along forest paths to the Schwanensee lake and then back to Köthen. Along the way, you pass the 144 metre high Wehlaberg in the middle of the forest, which has a viewing tower.
